  In support of the EThekwini Municipality's IDP and strategic objective to protect and enhance the ecological health and value of eThekwini’s rivers and catchments for sustainable development, climate change adaptation and risk reduction, my primary function is to provide a specialised, professional service within the Office of the City Managerr to direct, develop and drive an implementation plan to entrench and extend the transformative riverine management concept, goals and objectives to all river related work across all the rivers within the eThekwini Municipal Area. The ‘Transformative Riverine Management Programme’ (TRMP) aims to advance transformative climate change adaptation through greatly increasing the management of municipal riverine land through Community- Ecosystem-based Adaptation (CEBA), whilst capacitating and empowering the communities, particularly the most vulnerable, away from vulnerability and poverty, while promoting climate resilient development pathways and establishing riverine management partnerships to support the sustainability of City operating processes to realise ecological, societal and circular-economy co-benefits.
