      The Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP) provides outstanding Enlisted Marines with the opportunity to become Marine Corps Officers. MECEP offers qualified Marines the chance to go to a four-year college full time, while maintaining Active Duty status and pay. Selection is based on an individual's potential for commissioned service [as an officer] as demonstrated by their service record, previous academic record, and evidence of career and academic self-improvement. Selected Marines will attend a 10-week Officer Candidate School course and, upon completion, will attend a 4-year university offering a NROTC program. Marines successfully completing their Baccalaureate Degree and all MECEP requirements will be commissioned as Second Lieutenants.
