      Middle School Science Teacher

I taught hands-on, inquiry based science to middle schoolers coming from low-income families, trained new teachers at my school and for District 15, and developed new curricula. Favorite memory: yearly overnight trips with my 7th graders to the Pocono Environmental Education Center. Tracking animals by their scat and footprints, night hikes, and roasting marshmallows -- what could be better? The answer: nothing.

Manager of the Adventures in Science program

I managed programs that introduced children grades PreK - 8 to a wide variety of scientific disciplines through thought-provoking, hands-on investigations and interactive tours of Museum exhibits. Three-day workshops and week-long day camps explored topics such as astrophysics, human evolution, robot design, frogs and extreme mammals. I also created a new strand of programming that attracted middle school studentsto the sciences by collaborating with research departments and using cutting-edge digital technologies to introduce them to topics such as evolution, paleontology and astrophysics.
