Recruited as the Corporate Canadian Health Safety & Environment Manager then promoted to Director, Global HSE & Facility Effectiveness, then advanced to the role of Director, Corporate HSE. Through effective leadership and influence I was able to strategically guide the company's matrixed 1300 manufacturing & service centers in 54 counties with approximately 64,000 employees to a standardized HSE management system and successfully brought Health, Safety & Environmental consciousness back into the forefront of the NOV culture.Accomplishments:• Successfully implemented a global engagement strategy across over 1300 locations globally transferring knowledge and accelerating the adoption of behavioral based safety to the lowest operating level. • I engaged subject matter experts to consolidate risk reduction tools and determine best practices and implementation strategies resulting in reducing company wide TRIR by 70%, improved workers compensation reporting compliance from less than 20% to 100% further resulting in NOV being issued rebates and removal of surcharges improving the experience ratings. • I utilized a spaghetti diagram and time study to transform a cellular manufacturing process by simply reconfiguring the cell and improving throughput by 30%.   OMK Tube was a Greenfield OCTG manufacturing operation funded by the Russian company OMK established in US in 2012. OMK is one of the largest Russian producers of pipes, railroad wheels, hot rolled coil (HRC), heavy steel plates, fittings and other metal products for fuel and energy, transport and industrial enterprises.Retained by the CEO initially as the Director HSE then promoted to additional accountabilities of Director Human Resources to stabilize fragile workforce and drive critical strategic and tactical initiatives to clearly identify and optimize the total value of the company’s management system.Accomplishments:• Rated as the Top employee for OMK North American (based on corporate performance reviews, 360 peer assessments, parent company assessment, targets, budget performance, process improvements/innovation and self assessment).• Within a year and a half, through implementation of robust HSE systems, development of tools and high impact targeted training resulting in reduced injuries requiring medical attention by over 85% and reduced TRIR by 62%. Additionally, passed external OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, and API standards audit with “no findings” or corrective actions require.• I saved $250k in environmental remediation capital projects by sourcing alternate solutions to an existing problem and saved an additional $200K by simple reclassification of the company’s industrial waste.• I instituted a top grading and performance culture management system to better define performance standards and achieve maximum talent base resulting in the reduction of staff turnover from 75% to less than 29% and eradicated absenteeism.• I reduced non-value-added headcount by 30% and created cross-functional training programs to enhance the versatility and maneuverability and overall efficiencies of the worksites.   FTO Services was a joint venture between FMC Technologies and the Edison Chouest Offshore to provide Riserless Light Well Intervention services in the Gulf of Mexico and Outer Continental Shelf.Contracted employee who collaborated with employees and partnered with the leadership team to provide counsel on senior level HSE strategies and tactical initiatives for Riserless Light Well Intervention (RLWI) operations in the Gulf of Mexico and the Outer Continental Shelf. I played an integral role in harmonizing a multinational and multi-company workforce by creating non-verbal training, an offshore task-based competency framework and operating procedures that resulted in standardization and consistency across the different teams and partners of the organization.Accomplishment:• Establish HSE standards & expectations regarding functional competencies, providing behavioral examples across job groups within the organization (e.g., OIM, Superintendent, Rig Manager etc.). Tasked with an HSE turnaround and pioneering and directing the strategy and tactical initiatives to advance the company’s HSE vision and culture by implementing processes to keep pace with the manufacturing demands. Accomplishments:• To decrease at risk behavior and incidents I developed Key Performance Indicators and Risk Ratios to foster a culture of performance, correcting inefficient processes and eliminating job tasks contributing to injuries or operational rework. This led to a reduction in workers comp injury severity rate by 53%, reduction of medical only by 70% and TRIR reduction of 60%. Additionally, I saved $1.3 million in medical only costs while reducing the EMR from 1.19 to 0.71.• To effectively impact a cultural step-change I performed in-depth analysis of the company's culture and incidents then mapped the findings and established appropriate counter measures resulting in a housekeeping score differential from 23% compliance to 94% compliance, corrective action closer rate of 76% against target, a monumental increase in reporting, and an 87% participation rate within 1 yr.
