  A key credit controller is the highest role within the department, and they only manage the company's most biggest clients. When I moved to this department, I was promoted straight to the key position, and successfully managed SARS (Internet Solutions' biggest government account), Department of International Relations and Co-operation (DIRCO), Pick n Pay, IBM, the african regional offices for the AON group, and TM Supermarkets in Zimbabwe. My total book averaged R20 million to R25 million, and I'd collect on average 80% on the total. My General Role Expectations Were:• Achieve 100% collections monthly. • Follow up on outstanding debtors.• Apply early prevention's to prevent bad debts. • To meet client’s needs and provide excellent customer services at all times.My KPI Consisted Of:1.To maintain targeted DSO's.2.To enforce payment terms.3. Achieve 100% cash collections of the target monthly 4. Apply cash in accordance with remittance advice or written confirmation from the client5. Maintain the over due’s (90+days) at below 4% monthly6. To identify potential problematic clients, queries, escalate and resolve within reasonable timelines (48 hours)7. The first role was to assist their forex team, and the second was to take on my own portfolio, because staff had resigned in both teams. I worked on Oracle with AP and Procurement responsibilities, and grasped it really quickly. My portfolio consisted of, Dimension Data (The biggest account), Dark Fibre Africa (DFA), Neotel, Little Tuscany Guest House, Grapevine Interactive, Poptech Technology Services, Sensepost Pty Ltd, Soliditech Pty Ltd, Torque IT.
