      In the furtherance of NGB’s interests of providing information, referral, follow-up and outreach to military service members and their family members, I was expected to perform the following tasks, including but not limited to:-Providing assistance to military families in Family Assistance as needed, on pay & financial issues, military medical benefits, legal issues, ID cards & DEERS enrollment, Employer Support to the Guard & Reserve (ESGR), accessing military dependent benefits and services from local installations, and a wide variety of other family-related deployment issues. -Establishing and maintaining contact monthly with each married and single deployed Guard member’s family or POC to verify well-being in the form of Outreach. Offer assistance and determine any issues or concerns that the family may have.-Entering and maintaining logs on all cases and Family Assistance contacts received by the Family Assistance Staff into the Guard Family Management System (GFMS). Additionally, responsible for complete and thorough follow up and documentation in the GFMS on all problems, cases and contacts received.-Responding to and effectively handling time-sensitive calls as they are received, to include during off-hours.-Required to possess basic computer skills and be familiar with Microsoft Windows and other Microsoft Software applications, including MS Outlook, MS Word and MS Excel. Familiarity with FAX machines and photocopiers is desirable, as is the ability to learn basic telephone skills such as call forwarding, conference calling and personal telephone skills. Show less

      Deployment Cycle Support Specialist

      As a Deployment Cycle Support Specialist, I worked closely with Commanders of deploying reserve component units, and was tasked to train and facilitate access to services supporting soldiers’ and their families’ health and well-being.- Worked with the Commanders of deploying units and brigades throughout the entire deployment phase on post and pre deployment training.- Organized and facilitated training for up to 1200 deploying service members and their families.- Coordinated with area hotels, vendors and units the training dates, times and logistical needs and wants required for a successful event.- Responsible for maintaining an accurate and updated alpha roster for all service members deployed, to include those home on leave, those that were sent home due to medical discharge and those sent home due to emergency leave.- Required to keep an updated database of all resources available nationwide and state wide to all service members and family members- Expected to establish and maintain relationships with the Kansas National Guard leadership, Commanders, hotel staff, vendors and other resources by consistently building on my customer service skills.
