  Worked in a bank from being a teller to doing Legal Documentation and preparing loans. Was offered Bank Manager Bridgetown in late 1993 but advised Westpac had accepted an apprenticeship at Alcoa and was to leave at the end of that year.

  After one year as the Field Planner in Clarification I was asked to lead a small selected team as the SPA of the very successful Oracle eAM Implementation as Pinjarra Refinery SPA. After 2 years on this project I was promoted to Senior Area Planner in Pinjarra Refinery's busiest Operations Centre (OC1), for 3 years holding down 2 positions as I planned major works and managed the finances for the Reclaim & Milling Area and the Digestion & Evaporation areas. To gain greater refining experience I was then assigned to the newly formed centralise Major Overhaul Team as Senior Planner, managing the maintenance planning of numerous critical pieces of refinery equipment. Planning 23 overhauls per week on average, my equipment list included Washer, Thickeners & D Tanks, Heat Exchangers and Evaporator units. Show less Offered full time work as a tradesperson, only 2.5 years into a 4 year apprenticeship, I had already racked up 40 trade modules (plus 14 Engineering modules over and above) of a required 24 trade modules. I became an expert, primarily in centrifugal pumps, in repairable mechanical equipment used in the Alcoa WA refineries. Recognised for multiple safety awards, I designed a pump gland follower that better controlled pump product leakage that Warman Pumps International took globally to their customers. Show less
