Took command at the end of a multi-million dollar project to upgrade, repair, and maintain highly technical spaces and systems of the ship along with the replacement of a main propulsion diesel engine and upgrade to the transmission set. Completed a successful certification phase to take the ship into at-sea testing where the crew pressed the ship to its limits.Managed an annual $2.5M budget for maintenance, supplies, and personnel. Routinely monitored inventories for repair parts, hazardous materials, consumables, food stores, and maintenance materials. Maintained hazardous materials stored in proper containers, were controlled, issued, and used in accordance with OSHA procedures. Oversaw the safe operation of the ship's kitchen and food storage facilities ensuring preparation and cooking areas were within cleanliness standards, and storage areas were maintained within appropriate requirements.Oversaw the operation of a full service medical facility to include physical and electronic medical record storage and transmissions, pharmaceutical storage, daily clinic operations, emergency medical services, sanitation prevention and monitoring services, hearing and eyesight protection programs, and triage training programs for combat casualty care.Aligned training organizations to develop certification pathways for future crew operations.
