I spent all of my time at Court, I went to both York County Court and the Crown Court. I was granted the opportunity to shadow hearings, trials and private meetings with the barrister and client. I was able to learn more about Children Act applications (emergency removal of children) and I was able to witness how the Proceeds of Crime Act operates with a focus on s16 and s18. One of the highlights of this mini-pupillage was getting the privilege to meet and interact briefly with Judge Sean Morris who is a resident judge at York Crown Court. Show less

      - Prepared a legal comparative analysis on the provisions underpinning the European Single Market and the Caribbean Single Market - Case law arising from the pillars of economic integration (free movement, competition and custom union policies and common external tariff) and the governing treaties were used to identify the similarities and differences in the functioning of the two regimes - Wrote an article entitled “Rough Seas or Smooth Sailing for UK- CARIFORUM Relations in No-Deal Brexit” The article considers the fact that a ‘no-deal’ Brexit seems likely and highlights that its effects will be felt by trade partners including the Caribbean region. It examines the current relationship between the UK and the EU, and the UK’s future trading agreement with CARIFORUM countries in light of the CARIFORUM-UK Roll-Over Agreement. There is also a focus on whether or not the region missed a key opportunity to renegotiate the trading arrangements under the Roll-Over Agreement. Show less
