  A community leader isn't a job, but a lifestyle. For ten years Ì lived in Oshawa - I was active in creative community at The Vault and performed at open mics downtown; I attended and made delegations to Oshawa City Council fighting for local issues; i was a volunteer member of Oshawa Accessibility Advisory Committee; I volunteered for Oshawa Autofest, I represented Oshawa as a 2015 Toronto Para Pan AM Games torch bearer; I hosted a weekly Knowledge Cafe downtown; I founded Emporium of Ì and I as grassroots creatives initiative downtown; and ran for 2018 Oshawa City Councillor of Ward 1. For my community work - I was recognition of my outstanding contributions made to the community in Oshawa as Canada celebrated its 150th Anniversary of Confederation. Show less Oshawa Accessibility Advisory Committee is established by Oshawa City Council for the purpose of encouraging community participation on a variety of issues relevant to a barrier-free Oshawa. . As a member I play an important part in the corporate decision-making process by providing a means for elected representatives and staff to receive the views and advice from affected citizens on accessibility issues. All Advisory committees report to Council through the Standing Committee process and the nature of advisory committee recommendations to Council is purely advisory, not advocacy. Show less
