      Equipment Tech.

While at Tektronix I started stuffing circuit boards with components then joined theIntegrated circuits manufacturing (ICM) organization as an equipment operator in the thin filmsgroup, processing silicon wafers through metal deposition then moving to capsule diffusion.I spent a short time as an electronics technician testing Tektronix X-Y plotters before accepting a job as an equipment maintenance technician with ICM in the assembly group working ondie-mounting, wire bonding and packaging equipment. From there I cross trained into the wafer fabrication area working on metal deposition and ion implant manufacturing equipment. While in that group I was responsible for equipment repair and maintenance, PM developmentand spare parts inventories. We used an IMMS software package to run the PM system andmanage the spare parts inventory of which I was the system manager. In the mid 1980’s I managed the implant maintenance group. Some of the of equipment systems were MRC 903/643/Eclipse, Varian DF4/A2F/200-1000/DF3000/3120/E220. I was part of a team that developed a wafer gold plating system using a rotating disk (RDE) with eight plating heads. We built this equipment in-house and then brought it in to production. The system used Omron PLC logic and INDEL operator interface software that I was responsible for programming. Another responsibility included designing and building a plating head test cart enabling the repair of the individual plating heads off line. Show less

In 1994 Maxim Integrated Products purchased the ICM/ICO organization from Tektronix andI became a Maxim employee. My focus changed to primarily Ion Implant. We soon acquired several new or used Ion Implanters. I was responsible for the AMAT9200/9500 and the 1st Varian 350D Installs. We acquired AMAT9500Xr’s, Axcelis HE/GSD’s and Varian E500’s. We also took over the maintenance of the RTA equipment, AG4100 , AST2800’s and AMAT RTA’s. I contributed to equipment improvements, PM creation and implementation, continued to troubleshoot equipment issues and complete scheduled preventive maintenance. I was responsible fortraining new employees and was also responsible for all the test equipment calibrations Show less
