In this position, I also developed the society's website (www.gubmes.com) and saw our followers double on our social media. I was responsible for the organisation of the social events for the society. These included a joined social with Handprints e-NABLE Scotland providing networking opportunities between the societies. In this role, I achieved to double the percentage attendance at these events from the previous year.

      Research Intern

      I was based in the Institute for Applied Microelectronics (IUMA) within the University. My research was centered around the use of Hyperspectral Images for Brain Cancer diagnostics and treatment. I performed a study on the current state of the art in the field and analysed a database of Hyperspectral Brain Tumor Images. During my research, I implemented machine learning and processing algorithms to classify and segment healthy and tumor brain tissue. The results of this work were compiled in a paper that was accepted for publication at the SPIE Medical Imaging 2022 Conference. Title of the paper: “Hyperspectral Imaging for In-Vivo/Ex-vivo Tissue Analysis of Human Brain Cancer”. This work was awarded the first prize for the Image-Guided Procedures, Robotic Interventions and Modelling Paper Award and was selected as a finalist for the Robert F. Wagner All-Conference Best Student Paper Award. Show less

      As an intern in the Artificial Intelligence Team at Canon Medical Research my work was centered on deep learning and medical imaging. I implemented deep learning segmentation networks using PyTorch and worked with datasets from the Medical Segmentation Decathlon.
