The work contributed to the successful implementation of project in terms of:1.Establishing targeted institutional arrangements for disaster preparedness in the Red Cross and in the communities covered under the Project and 2.Equipping and training in Disaster Preparedness and Management, First Aid, Search & Rescue and Psychological First Aid (PFA) of community volunteers in ten villages at Krishna District in Andhra Pradesh.I contributed considerably to the preparation and publication of “Manual for Community Based Cyclone Preparedness” that was one of the deliverables under CBCPP. Through implementation of Wealth Out of Waste (WOW), a National Recycling Project of Ramky and ITC, about 12 tons of plastic recyclable water, soda and soft drink bottles and 4 tons of used paper tickets were collected, removed and taken for recycling that would have otherwise been burnt or taken for landfill with other wastes.   I worked as Project Manager (MSW – Operations) of Integrated Waste Management Unit at Mavallipura, Bangalore for Ramky Energy and Environment Ltd. I conducted one hour training sessions as a resource person for the City Manager’s Associations twice for newly inducted civil and environmental engineers of Brihat Bangalore Mahanagar Palike, BBMP on the topic, “Public Private Participation” in waste management that was well received. Over 1 lakh tonnes of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) were received from BBMP for treatment, processing and disposal and over 1200 Tonnes of Organic Manure was recovered from the MSW using the windrow composting method during the 5 months I was with this Unit. New areas of work in which there was successful experimentation was extending services of collection and transportation other than treatment, processing and disposal to BHEL and HAL and recovery and sale of recyclables.
