      Interim Supervisor

      - Oversaw 7 general workers to ensure a strategic day-to-day operation of 30 floating fish cages, 6 fish tanks in the hatchery, and 5 massive tiger prawn ponds. This included efficient work routines for workers, systems operating normally, zero staff injury cases, sale orders, and data analysis.- Obtained Malaysian Good Agricultural Practices (MyGAP) for the company to assure the produce were of its safe and best quality for consumers.- Initiated the independent culture of nannoplankton and rotifer (for larvae feed), conducted daily water quality tests and fish diseases monitoring to hinder mass contamination and achieve profitable revenue from the production.- Prepared the food conversion ratio analysis to optimise the usage of feed as an initiative to reduce the capital costs as well as wastes in floating cages and ponds.Significant Highlights- Introduced the experimental organic garlic feed to treat fish diseases and 0 ppt salinity for barramundi juveniles that reduced the mortality of fish by 90%.- Developed a systematic 24-hours of work routines that are rotated among general workers including their optimum rest period that minimised disciplinary issues or theft risks from outsiders. • WWF-Malaysia

      Mar 2018 - now

      - Established 2 sustainable fisheries initiatives (SFI) in Semporna - Yellowfin Tuna Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) in Mabul and Small-Scale Fisheries Project (SSFP) in Larapan.- Introduced a user-friendly data log system as a part of citizen-science monitoring programme with coastal youths to determine fishery stock status, initiation of seafood traceability and data transparency.- Prepared baseline, scoping reports, and facilitated the pre-assessment for FIP to assist the action plan development based on the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Principles. Applied adaptive management based on audits that were done through consultancy with Ocean Outcomes and Peterson Control Union.- Submitted an article of FIP that was launched by the N.65 Senallang Community Development Leader in 2022 that increased media coverage and fisheries sustainability awareness in 6 news outlets.- Engaged with the District Office and the Department of Fisheries to review the Larapan fishers' SSFP management plan.Significant Highlights- The projects managed the fisheries sustainably in 500,000 ha of Semporna seascape.- The quality of the yellowfin tuna caught by Mabul fishers had improved through large catch size selection (responsible usage of fish aggregating device), proper storage (insulated fish cooler bags for 300 boats), and freezing facility in the island (freezers powered up with solar system).- The introduction of C hooks on its benefit to reduce bycatch without affecting catch volume and distribution of 1,080 pieces of the hooks to fishers had successfully created a practice change where most of the Mabul fishers are no longer using the conventional J hooks.- Pioneered the comprehensive SSFP guidelines for the organisation to expand their SFI in other sites in Malaysia.- The developed management plan by the Larapan community was a stepping stone for the establishment of community protocol to protect their marine resources and ensure their food sources were secured.
