  Research Assistant

  I supported a project on the prevention of natural disasters in seven rural communities in Nicaragua. My task was to support the construction of bioengineering structures; help with the organization of courses of bioengineering and climate mitigation for the local population; liaise with local staff and administration.

  Forestry researcher

  I supported several research projects of the agroforestry and plant production department. My tasks were to conduct research on the genetic conservation and improvement of walnut and other Mediterranean trees. I collected plant genetic material, performed laboratory tests, supervised genetic progeny trials and carried out the statistical analysis.

  I contributed to the work of the Centre of Applied Business Research on the projects RESCO (Renewable Energy Supply Chain Opportunities) and RETS (Renewable Energies Transfer System). I conducted research on renewable energy sources, carbon footprint, environmental certification and regional best-practices for climate change mitigation.

  I provided technical and scientific support to tropical countries for improving their national forest monitoring systems and greenhouse gas inventories for the forestry and other land use sector. This included: to design and implement large-area environmental surveys, supervise field work, develop national data management systems, deliver training workshops and courses, develop tree volume and biomass models, estimate carbon stocks, carbon stock changes and GHG emissions from the forestry and other land uses sector.   I coordinate the technical analyses of biennial update reports, forest reference levels and GHG inventories of Parties under the Convention, prepare analysis papers and guidance documents on matters relating to climate policies and means of implementation for developing countries to enhance the effective conduct of climate negotiations. I also provide substantive guidance to intergovernmental processes on matters related to MRV of developing countries.
