    • US Navy

      Chief Warrant Officer - CWO4

      Retired from this fine unit.

    • USS JOHN F. KENNEDY CV-67

      Mar 1986 - Apr 1990
      Machinery Repairman

The Big John is where my naval career began and taught me that hard work and perseverance will eventually pay off.

    • USS LEFTWHICH DD-984

      May 1990 - Aug 1993
      Independent Duty Machinery Repairman

My first Spruance Class Destroyer (tin can) which sailed into history during the first Gulf War.

    • BUPERS - Naval Personnel Head Quarters

      Sept 1993 - Oct 1996
      Machinery Repairman Detailer

This was the ultimate education in the decision making of how to detail (issue permanent change of command orders). I spent three years learning about multi-million dollar budgets and how to negotiate with my counterparts to enhance their career. It was a challenge during the early years in my career and an eye opener inside the infamous beltway. With a the advice of a great mentor, I made the choice to cross-rate to Gas Turbine Systems Technician at the end of my tour in BUPERS. This was a tough decision but I was hard pressed to not advance in a over manned rating with little upward mobility. I spent the next year and few months retraining in Great Lakes. Show less

    • USS DONALD COOK DDG-75

      Mar 1998 - Dec 2002
      Main Propulsion LCPO

I was the first engineer to the pre-commissioning unit in Bath Maine. What a tremendous learning experience watching the Bath Iron Works shipbuilders assemble this fine warship. It was also my first tour as a Gas Turbine Systems Technician.

    • USS PORT ROYAL CG-73

      Mar 2003 - Nov 2006
Main Propulsion Assistant (MPA), Assistant Chief Engineer (A-Cheng)

My first officer tour. What a fabulous introduction into the Wardroom and to the island of Hawaii. We sailed fast and furious through many work-ups and liberty ports into two deployments. We made long lasting friendships and memories.

    • USS OAK HILL LSD-51

      Nov 2006 - Dec 2008
Main Propulsion Assistant & Damage Control Assistant

This was the beginning of my Amphibious Navy experience. I reported aboard as the prospective DCA and immediately assigned as the MPA, filling a gapped billet. As we rebuilt a Main Propulsion division back as strong as the diesel propulsion engines that turned the screws, I developed a fondness for the Gator Navy and it's mission.Almost 5 months later and after our MP division Sailors accelerated through numerous work-ups and inspections, to include INSURV, then we deployed. Mission accomplished! 7-months later the MPA billet was filled by a prospective gain, then I began my tour as the DCA. Again, the rebuild began and ultimately learning a new job proud as ever watching our Sailors excel on deployment at the tip of the spear. I love a challenge. Show less

    • The Board of Inspection and Survey (INSURV)

      Jan 2008 - Mar 2011
      Electrical Inspector

Another rewarding tour. I learned an incredible amount of information, not only about becoming a Electrical Inspector but about the shear talent we have in uniform.

    • USS IWO JIMA LHD-7

      Apr 2011 - Apr 2013
      Auxillary Officer (AUXO)

Great Steam Plant tour! I really enjoyed owning Auxiliaries and Assault Divisions. The unique teamwork in this environment was overwhelming and provided for a rewarding experience. For my non-Navy colleagues:A-Division is all customer service equipment such as laundry and galley equipment to RHIB boats.Assault Division is everything to do with hydraulically operated equipment. Steering, Aircraft and Weapons Elevators to Anchor Windlass.
