      Provided career counseling through individual appointments, a career decision-making class, job shadowing programs, and campus workshops. Coordinated the instruction of 23 sections annually of Basic Career Development, a two-credit course for freshmen and sophomores. Trained instructors, created syllabi, and monitored student course evaluations. Managed growth in the course from 18 to 23 sections.

      Led career services in the 14,000-student College of Liberal Arts. Student services included appointments with individual students, workshops for campus groups, office events, job and internship fairs, four career courses, an employer relations program, extensive web content, and a career resource room. Office team consisted of a three-person employer relations group, 10 career counselors, a career curriculum coordinator, two staff members with administrative/event planning responsibilities, and an adjunct course instructor.In 2015, designed and implemented a new departmental career services model, in which career counselors serve as liaisons to each of CLA's departments/majors. Departmental career counselors:-- Customize career support for students in their majors-- Connect students to employers who are recruiting CLA students for internships or full-time jobs-- Visit classes to discuss career-related topics with students-- Develop events that connect students to industry, employers, and alumni-- Support career development work in each departmentThe new departmental career services model was a part of a College-wide Career Readiness Initiative, in which students are supported in their development of ten Core Career Competencies. Career Services involvement in the initiative is extensive, and included:-- All first-year students visiting Career Services and completing several required assignments-- An extensive Career Readiness guide distributed to all students-- Web tools that promote student reflection on the Core Career Competencies and exploration of meaningful experiences-- A newly-created sophomore-year career course and a re-designed capstone career course-- A Career Readiness certificate Show less
