  I joined Denne Construction as a Management Trainee straight after A-Levels. My training involved spending a period of time within each department; surveying, buying, estimating and site management. After 3 years’ training and the completion of my HNC Building Studies course, I was promoted to Assistant Contracts Surveyor, followed by 12 months as a site based surveyor on a particularly problematic contract. My tasks were to settle subcontract accounts, issue payment notices and notify subcontractors of contra- charges, all aiming to minimise the financial exposure to Denne and recouping any losses.I attended many training courses including: contractual and commercial awareness, learning about the main contracts produced by the JCT, health and safety seminars, estimating and programming computer software and environmental legislations.In January 2005 I was promoted to Contracts Surveyor, responsible for all financial aspects for a number of construction projects ranging from ₤600k to ₤2 million. Contracts varied from new-build residential houses and flats to schools and commercial units. All projects that I financially managed exceeded their original expected profit margins. Show less

  I was responsible for re-measuring all works including groundworks, drainage, foundations and external works carried out and valuing these for payment. I also priced tenders involving rate build-ups & produce BoQ documents. I procured specific materials for each of my live contracts, researching new, innovative and alternative work methods. I managed contracts from inception through to completion and enjoyed working with Clients to ensure all their needs and requirements are met & hopefully exceeded. I have vast experience in all area of construction including new residential and commercial developments, estate re-generation, land remediation, marine repairs and working within secure areas such as prisons, airside and rail-side locations.In December 2016 I was asked to join the board of Directors for Royland. I still carried out all responsibilities as below and very much considered myself a working Director but was also able to make the higher-level commercial decisions.I was also responsible for and oversaw all other live projects and carried out all tendering & procurement of new work.
