      Restaurant Supervisor

During my two seasons working at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, my strong management skills were recognised and this led to me being promoted to unit supervisor, where I was responsible for overseeing and preparing functions and large bookings. These ranged from children's birthday parties to the after party for VIP and cast members of the popular 'Hot Ice' show. I had to make sure decorations and tables were set up for these events and also had to make sure a member of staff was available to greet and look after our guests at all times. As supervisor, I had to manage and organise a team of 25 staff members, making sure all training procedures and training records were up to date. I had to resolve any complaints or queries that were brought to my attention and it was my responsibility to make sure our customers had the very best experience possible. Other duties, such as open and close of the restaurant, float handling and fire safety were also an important part of my daily routine. Show less

    • STORM CONSULTANCY SOLUTIONS LTD

      Nov 2015 - Nov 2015
      Assistant Event Organiser

Over the three day period working for STORM Consultancy, I worked as part of the events team, making sure the various locations were set up and safe prior to the events taking place. This included the set up of barriers, generators and lighting as the two events were held outside. I also had to make sure venues were ready and available for set up, as well as making sure our contractors were there to complete their roles during the events. I had the responsibility of keeping attendees safe throughout the duration of the two events, keeping crowds to a minimum and making sure the health and safety procedures were followed at all times. From working in a small, tight-knit team, I developed a further understanding of communication skills and how vital they are within the events industry. Show less

      Jun 2016 - Sept 2016
      Lightpool Ambassador

As a Blackpool Resort Ambassador, my job was to provide accurate information and knowledge of the town to visitors and residents whenever necessary. I worked as part of the Lightpool team, making sure the public were safe when viewing the lightpool projections opposite the Blackpool Tower. As an Event Management student, I was able to work alongside the Event Management team at Blackpool Council, working at a variety of events such as Blackpool Airshow, Ride the Lights and the Blackpool Illuminations Switch On. I was able to learn new skills from the team and I feel that it has made me more confident when working at new events that I may not have had experience in before. I was able to work as Artist Liaison at the Switch On, and also worked alongside an outsourced Events company backstage. I also got the opportunity to work inside the Blackpool Tourist Information Centre. This enabled me to develop on my customer service skills and also learn more information about the attractions in my home town. The Tourist Information Centre is a very busy environment during the high season and I had to work in a fast-paced manner. Show less

    • Blackpool Pleasure Beach

      Jul 2017 - Mar 2018
      Corporate Sales and Events Coordinator

After completing my degree, I worked at Blackpool Pleasure Beach as their Corporate Sales and Events Coordinator. In this role, it was my responsibility to take event enquiries and turn them into wonderful event experiences that the guests would remember - whether it was a birthday, wedding or conference, it was my aim to fulfill every need of the client. I also worked as a sales representative for the company, marketing and selling the shows/events that we had to offer to members of the public. This included delivering a variety of marketing techniques such as e-shots, mailers and social media posts as well as leaflet distribution within the local area. After working in this position for 4 weeks, I was put in charge of running the department alone due to a change in staffing. This tested my skills and abilities and I recieved nothing but positive feedback from managers regarding my professionalism in what some would consider a stressful time. This position helped me realise my own strengths and really helped me develop as an Events Professional. Show less

    • Campbell & Rowley Catering and Event Management Ltd

      Mar 2018 - Mar 2019
      Events Assistant/Manager

My time at Campbell and Rowley was amazing and I absolutely loved working for this fab company. During my time with C&R, I was promoted to Events Manager and I was given a lot of responsibility from the first day I started which was great and allowed me to develop within my events career. It was my responsibility to deal with enquiries on a daily basis and turn those enquiries into bookings and see them through to the live event itself. Following this, I was also responsible for the clear down of the events and ensuring contractors were there to clear the site by the agreed deadline. I had to work to tight timeframes and deadlines that were not only set by myself, but other members of the team. It was also my responsibility to communicate with suppliers, making sure everything was ordered and in place for the events to be set up prior to the day and I also worked closely with the accounts team to ensure our events were profitable and that we were working to tight budgets. Communication was key in this job role and I feel that this is a skill I developed on working closely with both clients and customers who varied from Race Course Managers to Bride and Grooms and everything in between! One of my other responsibilities was organising staff and making sure they were briefed in detail as to what the event entailed and what we, and the clients, expected from them during the event. As an Events Manager, I managed large scale events, such as Cartmel Races, Blackpool Tower Christmas Party Nights and the hospitality for Blackpool Illuminations as part of a team, and I also managed smaller events on my own such as weddings and rugby match days - I feel very proud to have been given this responsibility from the start of my career with the business. I feel that the year with them really tested my abilities as an Events Manager and I definitely learnt a lot of skills along the way. Show less
