-Assisted in an administrative role in a variety of scenarios.-Entered and presented relevant data to the research.-Followed chain of custody protocols for samples.

    • R&D Systems

      Jun 2010 - Aug 2010
      Intern

-Characterized size exclusion chromatography elution of antibodies.-Developed a cleaning protocol to prolong the life of the columns, saving the company money.-Developed a protocol for handling atypical results, leading to the rejection of less products.

-Published primary research 1st author article in The Journal of Virology-Published book chapter review on Herpes Simplex Membrane Fusion in Springer reviews-Published 2nd 1st Author in the Journal of Virology-Utilized monoclonal antibodies towards herpes simplex virus glycoprotein B to determine virus is similarly neutralized in low-pH dependent and low-pH independent cell entry pathways-Characterized the antigenicity of HSV oligomeric change utilizing multiple antibodies.-Determined the threshold for reversibility of HSV gB conformation change has a similar pH threshold to that of conformational change-Identified that two glycoprotein C antibodies detect a conformational change following exposure of virions to acidic pH-Identified these same glycoprotein C antibodies preferentially inhibit entry into the low-pH dependent entry pathway of HSV, adding to our understanding of the differences between these pathways-Characterized the epitopes detected by a battery of glycoprotein C antibodies Show less

-My project consisted of creating a Streptococcus mutans biofilm on a CDC bioreactor within 24 hours of inoculation to model the oral cavity.-This project allowed the testing of oral care products efficacy against S. mutans.-In addition to laboratory work, I prepared a manuscript for publication of the bioreactor method.

    • University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine

      Jan 2019 - Apr 2020
Postdoctoral Research Fellow at UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center

In the laboratory of Dr. Blossom Damania I studied KSHV innate immunity and pathogenesis.I applied high content screening (HCS) to identify host gene targets through high throughput siRNA screening. Analysis of large datasets through Cell Profiler and Excel were critical for optimizing and successfully implementing screens.I utilized RNA and DNA extraction, RT-qPCR, flow cytometry, lentivirus production and transduction, and many other molecular biology techniques to characterize proteins and pathways. • Eva Garland Consulting, LLC

      Apr 2020 - Oct 2021
Scientific Consultant | Grant Writing Specialist

My primary role at EGC is to assist start-up companies in obtaining non-dilutive funding from federal agencies and non-profits. To succeed in this position, I utilize my strong written and oral communication skills to keep projects on time, coordinate with University partners and governmental funding agencies, and lead meetings to project manage both short and long-term goals.Understanding both drug and technology development and commercialization is essential in developing proposals that, if successful, will further advance the client's technology. Rapid understanding of new scientific fields is critical as new clients sign on regularly, and initial calls can occur within hours of being introduced to new clients. I help develop project scopes that fit within budgets for specific funding opportunities and have submitted grants totaling millions of dollars for clients. I provide expertise in scientific writing, editing, and overall scientific consulting to ensure client projects align with the goals of specific funding opportunities. I navigate and ultimately upload and submit grant applications through multiple government agency application portals. In my role, I also help develop non-dilutive strategic funding plans to aid in assisting clients in unlocking the $10 billion available in non-dilutive funding. Multiple clients have re-engaged for other grant writing supporting following the delivery and discussion of their non-dilutive funding plans. Show less
