Among other challenges, the handicraft sector in India is already facing stiff competition with people switching to machine- made items as they require less effort and pay better. Through this research, it was identified that networking and digitization have been able to provide some respite, but they come with their own set concerns indicating that the brunt of this impasse is going to be felt for a long time. This research shows that industry association is one way that the Indian handicraft sector can be revived as it can strengthen this sector by providing several networking opportunities and also assist in dealing with digital illiteracy through workshops and mentorship programs. Additionally, this could help revive interest in the handicraft sector and withstand this economic, political and social crisis preserving the Indian handicraft industry. Show less
