      Jun 1992 - Feb 1994
      Mechanical Engineer

Solo Clean Sheet Design: Built and tested a fully automated glass handling robot that removed 8 sharp edges from window panes of various sizes in 8 seconds. Aided only by a technician. Full responsibility for every aspect including programming, pneumatics and electronics. System met requirements and was used in production.Solo clean sheet design of a one of a kind machine that applied masking film to both sides of a pane of glass and trimmed the masking back 1/4" from each of the 8 edges. Product was successful and was used in production. Show less

Mechanical design, testing and validation of complex, high volume consumer electronics.Subsystem design ownership of customer facing tactile buttons. Subsystem consists of multiple injection molded, CNC machined, die cut, and FPCA parts.Deep dive tolerance analysis: I built four fully automated, parametric, Excel based Monte Carlo models to maximize product quality and minimize cost. Models can be updated with the latest CTF distribution statistics with a single click. Model provides capability metrics (CP, Cpku, Cpkl, Cpk, dpm) and auto updated output histogram.Experiment design and execution that feeds back into the design to improve impact robustness, life cycle reliability and other customer facing metrics.Novel measurement system design and validation for production line measurement of critical to quality product attributes.
