    • The Wall Street Journal

      Dec 2023 - Dec 2023

I spent the day at The Wall Street Journal, Washington Bureau, meeting with Jude Marfil, Ben Pershing, Aaron Zitner and Michelle Hackman, which gave me the opportunity to discuss and explore the latest developments on issues such as federal AI regulation, current polling trends, and journalistic neutrality - helping me to gain a professional insight into these areas. This opportunity built my people skills, helped hone my sense of the connections between the pillars of state and the population, and helped exemplify how political discourse is translated into news. Show less I was invited back to the WSJ to intern at their WSJ CEO Council Summit in Washington DC, facilitating speakers such as Janet Yellen (US Treasury Secretary), Mike Wirth (Chevron CEO), Kevin McCarthy (55th speaker of the house), Mike Johnson (56th speaker of the house), and Jonathan Kanter (Assistant Attorney General) among others. Discussing global political and economic landscapes in anticipation of the upcoming US election. At this event I developed my networking, organisation, and political discussion skills by liaising between journalists, politicians, and executives to facilitate important discussion ranging from climate change to security and geopolitics. Intern

I spent a week in the buildup to the general election working for an MP in my local constituency of Mid Bucks during the build-up to the UK General election. I was assigned to tasks in the constituency office where I made calls to constituents, and was also involved in local canvassing, both to discuss voters’ intentions and inform them of policy for the local area. Both activities honed my ability to work effectively under time pressure and communicate persuasively with a wide range of different people with varying views, therefore requiring me to vary and modulate my communicational approach while simultaneously respecting people’s personal views.
