      Jun 2016 - Aug 2016
      Data analysis intern

      • Conducted beam width estimation for the Ooty Radio Telescope (ORT) by slewing across the radio point-source ‘Virgo-A,’ achieving a signal-to-noise ratio of 240 and estimating the beam width at (2.5 ± 0.4) degrees.• Calibrated the ORT using the astronomical calibrator 3C279 to estimate its G/T-Sys value, RMS flux sensitivity, and sensitivity number, contributing to accurate system performance metrics.• Generated a one-dimensional radio profile of the Sun using aperture synthesis with the ORT, resulting in a signal-to-noise ratio of 236 and an estimated angular size of the Sun at 0.38 degrees, with a deviation of 23.89% from the actual size.
