      Archaeology lab assistant

Job responsibilities were mainly to assist professor with research in lithics, ceramics, and osteology. My responsibilities also included to maintain lab space and equipment. As part of this job position I would also assist in excavations and survey work. Some interesting work I conducted while at this position included conducting floatation of soil samples from excavations and using a microscope to identify possible seeds to send out for analysis. Catalog and organize artifacts for analysis, preparing charcoal sample to be sent out for dating analysis, using a light table to compile drawings of living floors from excavation levels into one large map of the living floor, lay out excavation and survey grids at several sites in North Dakota. I also assisted professors during field school classes in both archaeology and geophysics. Show less

      Principal investigator

I worked at Westwood several summers before graduating from Missouri State as a Field Technician during the 2010 field season. During the 2011 field season I was hired as a Field Crew Chief and Field Director of approximately 200 miles of pipeline projects in Texas and several wind farms in Minnesota and Iowa. My responsibilities at that time included Phase I surveys, report writing, figure production, artifact analysis, GIS database management and analysis, and GPS maintenance. During the 2012 season I again returned to Westwood as a Field Director/GIS Specialist/Environmental Monitor for several pipelines, transmission lines, and wind farms in several states. My position and responsibilities evolved during the 2012-2013 season from Field Director to Principal Investigator as a result of the completion of my Master of Science. As a principal investigator at Westwood I oversaw the survey of a several pipelines, a wind farm in Oklahoma and several small Phase I project in Minnesota. Show less
