      Internship at the Economic and Trade Commission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile in Beijing, China.This was a very interesting internship, covering several aspects of international affairs between China and Chile.I was part of the team who attended the second round of negotiation of the enhancement of the Free Trade Agreement between China and Chile, where important subjects were discussed, such as the Market Access of Trade in Goods, Trade in Services and Economic Cooperation. To do so, we divided in groups, giving me the opportunity to experience real life negotiations of such important topics and see how Chinese diplomats negotiate with smaller markets such as Chile, besides acknowledging the Chinese position in Economic, Trade and Environmental related topics.Furthermore, every day I had to produce a summary of the most important news relating China, Chile and Latin America, to send it to Chilean businessmen working in China. This gave me an overview of all the trade relationships in which China is involved, besides from gaining knowledge in different industries where China invests and wants to be present, such as energy, infrastructure and agriculture.Moreover, I was involved in the organization of the ChileWeek China 2017 that was held in Beijing. I was in charge of the organization of important seminars and arrenging the agenda of different government personnel from Chile that went to China, which allowed me to enlarge my network and gain more knowledge in areas of special interest for Chile and China, such as transportation, telecommunications and energy.Another interesting and challenging task I was assigned was to evaluate more than 70 projects that Chilean companies and trade unions send to the Trade Commission to apply for funds to go abroad and promote their products. Finally, I also conducted market researches in different industries such as wines, salmon, fruits, and other products that Chile exports to China. Show less
