Worked as part of a field team for the Canada Global Change Transect in Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, to determine large-scale spatial patterns in species diversity in response to climate and land use change. Captured, identified, collected and labeled Canadian butterfly species. Led a team to Radisson, QC to conduct Pollard transects and collect specimens of the bog copper (Lycaena epixanthe), and participated in a field study of the expansion of the invasive European Common Blue butterfly (Polyommatus icarus). Measured morphological and physiological characteristics of the bog copper butterfly Lycaena epixanthe in order to link ecology and physiology to determine the adaptive mechanisms that have allowed it to expand northward at a very high rate.
