Physically demanding, highly educational, and collaborative work. I’m part of a 6 person team that manages 11 acres used for sustainable organic farming and education. We strive to engage Emory students and local community members year-round through academic, volunteer, and gustatory opportunities :) Most of my time on the farm has been spent:- Harvesting spring crops (beets, cucumbers, squash, zucchini) and summer crops (tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, figs, and okra)- Processing produce post-harvest (carrots, onions, leeks, garlic)- Weeding- Washing “dishes” (buckets, bins, crates, clippers, knives, etc)- Prepping soil and Planting (lettuce seeds for fall)- Removing old and building new fencing and trellises- Assisting in setting up for and manning the Oxford market stand- Packing food for Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) delivery- Writing the CSA newsletter Show less

      Advisor

I had the privilege of serving as an Advisor, Teaching Assistant, and Resident Advisor for the Tikvah Scholars Program (Session 1) at the beautiful Mount Holyoke College. I was an advisor for seven funny, sweet, and brave teens and assisted lecturers for courses on philosophy, finding purpose in work and leisure, and Talmudic Heroines. I helped run various night activities and frisbee throwing sessions (of course) over the 11 day session.

      After school teacher

Worked with the founder, head chef, and lead curriculum developer to teach children about nutrition and food science after school with the goal of fostering curiosity and healthy-eating habits using fun, hands-on, and science-based activities. Lesson topics included botany, density, and changes in states of matter - all relating to whole foods, baking, and/or cooking. When applicable, lessons were connected to timely Jewish holidays or themes from the Parsha.
