      I attended the Fashion Retail Academy from September 2014, where I was enrolled onto the Level 4 Buying and Range Planning Diploma. When I joined the FRA I was very interested in pursing my dream job in the fashion industry, although I was not sure what route I wanted to go down. I had previously spoken to a buyer who expressed their passion for buying and how much of a rewarding job it was, so this is the reason why I joined this course and go down this desired route which has turned out to be the right choice. My overall knowledge has broaden dramatically since joining, thanks to all the information packed lectures and seminars I have attended which have taught me all the basics and more about the buying world. Fashion is the perfect job route for me to go down as I am very creative and have a good eye for detail which I discovered through my range planing assignments which will benefit me massively when it comes to applying for buying roles.       Level 2 BAA working on Woven Tops Department Was asked back into Head Office after my 2 weeks work experience in December to fill in for one of the BAA on the Indigo team who was off for 2 months. Through working in the ladies wear department gained experience in cashing up, working on the tills, managing the fitting rooms, dealing with customer complaints and shop floor organisation. Additionally, worked in the food hall and putting out new stock to maintain sales. Spent 2 weeks work experience shadowing the BAA of the Indigo Knitwear department. Completed tasks such as attending fit sessions and writing up fit comments, sorting and returning supplier samples, organising the approval folders, comp shops, sitting in on range building meetings, visiting the White City makeshift store to store grade the garments and order colour swatches.Gained first real experience and understanding of what a BAA does.

      Spent 3 weeks at the Arcadia office working on Dorothy Perkins shadowing the BAA’s. Helped on the Jersey and Knitwear department where numerous tasks were completed, including comp shops, sorting and returning supplier samples, attending best and worst meetings, creating colour palettes using Pantone referencing, attending fit sessions, writing up the fit comments and contacting suppliers using both email and telephone conversations. Increased knowledge of what a BAA is required to do, become more confident when speaking to others on the phone in a professional manner and experience of a fast-paced working environment. Show less
