Tom Green County Sheriff's Office
Jan 2006 - Jan 2008Reserve DeputyAs a deputy in the Reserve division, I was regularly assigned to the Patrol Division of the department to assist the deputies in their daily duties. We were also a strong community relations division, providing pro bono services to the community whenever needed. As a Reserve Deputy, I was required to work only 16 hours per month; however, I regularly worked, uncompensated, 40+ hours each month. I conducted police patrols in rural Tom Green County, including the communities of Grape Creek, Wall, and Christoval. I engaged in traffic enforcement, focusing my efforts on DWI and narcotics enforcement when the call load permitted. I also responded to routine calls for service and took reports when necessary. During patrol, I enforced criminal and traffic law, and made arrests when necessary. In a reserve division of approximately 20 deputies, I was one of only four "Level-1" deputies who could operate and patrol as a one-man unit without the direct supervision of a regular paid deputy.
