Specifically, the study focuses on the relationship between income, grocery store access, the Social Vulnerability Index (socioeconomic, household composition, minority status, and housing type), and the disparities within the different Census blocks in Philadelphia. Using data from various sources, including the USDA Food Access Research Atlas and the American Community Survey, the study uses statistical methods to analyze the relationship between these factors and disparities within the Census blocks. The mean, median, and standard deviation for each variable were used to identify the most disadvantaged neighborhoods. Correlations analysis was also used to identify relationships between the variables. The results suggest that areas with lower food access and higher Social Vulnerability Index scores are the most disadvantaged neighborhoods. These inequities put people at higher risk of poor health. Based on the results of the analysis, potential strategies should be put in place to address these disparities, including increasing access to healthy foods, increasing access to affordable health care, and improving health literacy. These findings have important implications for policymakers and healthcare providers seeking to improve health outcomes and reduce disparities in healthcare access. This progress should be monitored over time to ensure that these disparities are decreasing. Show less
