Friends of Foster Kids
Mar 2015 - Sept 2018Member of the Board of DirectorsFriends of Foster Kids (FOFK) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization founded in Macomb County, Michigan in 2008 and serves foster children in South East Michigan and beyond by providing a "Christmas" for foster children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse and neglect and placed in temporary housing or shelters. From Macomb County alone there are approximately 900 children in foster care each year. Many of these children have never experienced the joy of receiving a gift at Christmas. In a season for family, granting a child's wish speaks softly of unconditional love form people who care. Since launching in 2008, FOFK has focused it's services to four key programs: Christmas, College, Cars, and Care. Friends of Foster Kids has expanded its services to lend a hand to the older children as they become young adults, going off to college and learning to live independently. Without the support of family, we help them by meeting some of their needs. As part of the Board of Directors I was:• Responsible for the marketing, social media, and web presence for Friends of Foster Kids, including event promotion and donation software integration.• Created the organization’s first marketing plan and social media strategy to help Friends of Foster Kids successfully double the amount of foster children receiving Christmas Gifts in first year of implementation, for a total of $400,000 in gifts distributed in 2015.• Built, designed and supported new website with frequent content updates.• Helped organize, promote, attend, and work various fundraisers and events.
