  As a member of the management team, and my role was to provide stewardship to the Information Systems department, as well as implementing the Exchange’s IT strategy to transition it from a semi – automated to a fully electronic trading environment. The benefits of the automation project, to the market were achieving operational efficiency when the time for trades to settle reduced by 2 days. As the senior IT personnel, I was also a key coordinator for business continuity, Information Security, service level management of the contractors on the project. Working alongside other heads of departments in Product, Finance, Trading and Compliance, we constituted the Exchange’s Management Committee, which was responsible for drafting and implementing policy to meet the Exchange objectives.   As a member of the management team, my responsibility was growing a pipeline of opportunities in Uganda for the Risk Advisory Services. As the business manager, I worked alongside subject matter experts, and with guidance from senior leadership, we developed good business relationships with in the financial sector. In Uganda, I was assigned responsibility of the country team and the budget / revenue. Together, we grew the brand profile by building strategic partnerships; for example, in the Insurance sector, in a partnership with the Insurance Institute of Uganda, we used capacity building to advocate the value of Risk Management in business. A key milestone was opening a new service line in Uganda; Financial Risk Management (FRM) services to banks and Insurance companies. As a regional Trainer, I was part of a team assigned to deliver in-house training on the KPMG Way, Business Development Core skills within the region: Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. Show less

  As a member of a project team of experts from the financial sector, my main role was to coordinate the implementation of the Capital Market’s Infrastructure (CMI). The objective of the CMI was to provide the required linkages for the cross border trading of financial securities in the EAC financial markets. The benefits of the CMI project are it provides a larger pool of financial securities to investors and a larger capital raising base for companies and governments, and is promoted under “The EAC Common Market Protocol". The project went live on 31st December 2020 with the markets of Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda. Burundi was still in the process of establishing its capital markets. The infrastructure is ready for this. My key achievements include;Successfully managing contracts for implementation of system integration with the National Bank of Rwanda, Bank of the Republic of Burundi, and CSD & Registry co in Tanzania. Successful automation of the Rwanda Stock Exchange, setting up of automated environment for the Burundi Exchange Secretariat, cross border linkage of the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange, and Uganda Securities Exchange. Being the lead coordinator for EAC while drafting the CMI operations strategy comprising of the CMI rule book, agreements for participants, service management, business continuity and cyber security.Other assignment’s at EAC include digital payments where my role as an IT expert was required during stake holder consultations on diagnostic studies for cross border retail payments, and mobile financial services in the EAC. This involved working closely with the EAC Central banks; Bank of Tanzania, Bank of Uganda, National Bank of Rwanda, Bank of the Republic of Burundi, and Bank of South Sudan. Other stake holders at national level include commercial banks, microfinance banks, mobile network operators, Fintech providers, and other stakeholder’s. Show less
