This unit represents law enforcement's response to public demand for change in how police respond to 1st Amendment activity in its jurisdiction. POPS stands for Public Order Public Safety. - Awarded to Ryan ChryslerColumbus Police Medal of Valor Columbus Division of Police May 2009 On December 20th, 2008, after sustaining a gunshot wound to the face, Officer Chrysler remained standing, and along with his partner, returned fire, killing the suspect who had just attempted to murder Officer Chrysler during an investigative stop.

The combined speeds of cruiser and suspect vehicle resulted in a 140 MPH impact. Officer Chrysler was physically unharmed in this accident and returned to work the following shift, however, the psychological trauma would linger until the following years critical incident. - Awarded to Ryan ChryslerBlue Star Columbus Division of Police May 2005 Officer Chrysler suffered reoccurring injuries to his right wrist after multiple arrests and uses of force. Preliminary medical exams were not able to diagnose a tear to his scapholunate tendon. BWC continued to deny advanced exams until a surgical specialist intervened. Officer Chrysler continued to work through these injuries until his surgery was approved and the tendon was reattached.

This award pertains specifically to uniformed assignments and requires that employees work without at-fault accidents for specified periods of time.
- Awarded to Ryan ChryslerSpecial Commendation Columbus Division of Police In recognition of leadership of the Ohio Organized Crime Commission Human Trafficking Task Force during Operation Sundown. This was a multi-jurisdictional operation which took several months to complete. Undocumented Korean and Chinese Nationals were being trafficked by massage parlor owners in Powell Ohio. The operation led to 10-year Federal Prison sentences each for the two parlor owners. The victims were provided aid by the Salvation Army and the United States Government.
