I provided them with valuable insights about the university, supported them to achieve their full potential in every matter. I offered professional advice on university-related topics and monitored mentee's wellbeing. I used my communication and problem-solving skills to answer all the queries of the future applicants of Aberystwyth University during the Open and Visiting Days. Have done department tours (including lab tours) where I was talking about university facilities and equipment.

  Assistant Psychologist

  In the role of an Assistant Psychologist at the hospital, I worked under a supervision of a senior clinical psychologist and observed a wide range of psychological states and conditions, including depression, anxiety, addictions, problems with adjustment to reality, socialising issues. The practice helped me to acquire new experiences and skills such as: flexibility, ability to initiate contact in difficult situations, competence in contact and support of vulnerable adults, the aptitude of empathic perspective. Also, I have acquired novel knowledge through psychotherapeutic books (about dealing with diabetes, cancer diseases and being at peace with death), materials and training courses provided by the hospital (such as GDPR, hospital’s fire safety, infection control, analysing the assessments, producing written reports, completing creative projects with the children and their parents, lessons of mindfulness and relaxing breathing exercises). This work experience improved my ability to solve problems, patience in difficult situations, ability to empathise, creativity, tolerance for stress and enhanced my internal coping abilities.   Dementia Specialist Healthcare Assistant

  The role of a Healthcare Assistant at Hafan Y Waun Dementia Care Home allowed me to develop a deeper understanding of mental health conditions such as Dementia, Alzheimer's, progressive loss of functional abilities, anxiety, depression, but also bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and psychosis.I acquired knowledge about the following: mental health and physical first aid, Mental Capacity Act, dementia language, challenging behaviour among dementia, advanced care-planning in dementia, body language, health and safety, vulnerable adults at risk - safeguarding, risk of falls, incident reporting, confidentiality and information handling, fire safety, infection control, awareness and support of swallowing, wound and continence care, end of life care and bereavement. I have received valuable experience needed to start a postgraduate degree (Masters) in Clinical Psychology and Mental Health in Swansea University in September 2021. Show less

  Beacon Support is an established provider of specialist 1:1 mentoring, study skills and Assistive Technology support to students with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) within further and higher education. As a Specialist Mentor, I am providing one-to-one study skills support to students identified and funded by Student Finance England/Wales, assisting them to learn coping strategies to embrace their neurodiversity and to overcome their difficulties.
