  • Experience

    • Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia

      Sept 2011 - Dec 2012
      Teaching Assistant

During the final year of my undergraduate course, I was able to procure a teaching assistant position for the subject organic chemistry. This was when I developed my love for teaching while at the same time helped a number of students develop their interest in the subject.

    • Forest Research Institute Malaysia

      Jun 2012 - Sept 2012
      Intern

As part of my undergraduate course, I worked at the soil chemistry laboratory at the Forest Research Institute Malaysia. The internship involved aiding in research on the synthesis and chemical analysis of paper mill sludge derived biochar. I led a team of three interns in conducting lab experiments and analyzing and interpreting the data produced.

    • King Saud University

      Jun 2013 - Jan 2014
      Research Trainee

During the short period between my Graduation and Masters, I sought to develop my skills working as a trainee researcher at the Cancer and Molecular Biology Laboratory, King Saud University. My work involved the development of nano biosilica composites, with the aim of developing 3D structured biocomposites that provide a suitable base for cell and tissue growth for toxicity testing. It is here that I developed my research skills, while at the same time put my knowledge of nanoparticle synthesis and characterization, obtained during my Undergraduate Thesis, to practical application. Jul 2016 - Mar 2017
      Talent Acquisition Consultant

As a talent acquisition specialist at Cynet Health I screened prospective candidates for Healthcare jobs, interviewed them and negotiated the terms and pay. While not particularly in my field, my brief experience as a talent acquisition specialist helped me develop crucial communication and negotiation skills.

    • National Institute of Malaria Research

      May 2017 - Jan 2022

The Center of Excellence on Climate Change and Vector Borne diseases is a national project under the Department of Science and Technology (Government of India), that studies the effect of climate change on major vector borne diseases such as Malaria, Dengue, Chikungunya, Visceral / Cutaneous Leishmaniasis, Scrub Typhus etc. It is here that I am involved in various research activities that involve both extensive lab work, as well as regular field visits. At present, my research focus is on heat shock proteins that help mosquitoes survive extreme temperatures. I am also involved in studying the epidemiology of VBD in view of climate change. Due to the scope of my work, I have had to develop a wide array of skills ranging from statistical analysis, conducting surveys, basic mapping and GIS to wet lab techniques such as ELISA, DNA isolation, PCR etc. Show less
