  Overseeing the Technical Department and Timber Truss PlantThis role assisted in the timely turnaround of customer’s quotes for the purpose of supplying manufactured residential housing components to various builders throughout the Northern Territory, both local and remote housing sectors. This was achieved through liaising with the various departments, primarily purchasing department, to make sure the pricing of materials from our suppliers was competitive and we were using best practices when it came to designing timber or steel trusses, steel wall frames and structural steel housing components. As Technical Manager it was part of my role to organise periodic training with our primary program suppliers allowing both internal and external training to be able to best utilise new learning within the workplace.Working closely with the timber truss detailers and truss plant supervisor we were able to achieve best practices by conducting time in motion studies at the different stages of truss production, hence, decreasing production handling time and ensuring a truer cost benefit to both the client and company.Additional duties were stock control and ordering of both timber and steel connectors (nail plates) for the truss plant including yearly stocktake of all consumables within the truss plant. Liaising with drivers to manage their Fatigue when on long haul trips, this was achieved through the accreditation acquired through WAHVA (Western Australian Heavy Vehicle Accreditation) and NHVR (National Heavy Vehicle Regulator). Coordinating wide load and road train permits for the purpose of transporting both locally within the Northern Territory and across state borders.Liaising with the onsite mechanic in scheduling repairs and maintenance to a fleet of prime movers, trailers and dolly's. This also included scheduled maintenance for an extended fleet of numerous other vehicles including forklifts, site trucks, water carts, utilities, back hoe, excavators and bobcats.Additional tasks included updating fleet registers, reconciling DVC (Daily Vehicle Checklists) and CDD (Client Delivery Dockets) for the purpose of tracking assets to and from site.
