We work with approximately 20-30 Scholars in grades 8-12 who are dedicated to taking advantage of intensive mentoring, tutoring, and seminars to reach their academic and personal goals. My role is to recruit and support Scholars (and their families), mentors, tutors, speakers, and develop programming that supports their success in the program. I also organize trips, events, and coordinate the logistics of all aspects of the program. I am responsible for maintaining the budget, delegating responsibilities (including the hiring of support staff and other volunteers), all communications with our participants, partners and stakeholders (such as the website, newsletters, emails & social media). I also maintain our databases (data sets, alumni connections, networks) to ensure all parties are well-informed and engaged. I conduct and assist in research to improve outcomes and establish partnerships with other pre-college programs to maximize resources. Ultimately, our goal is to ensure that every Scholar in our program is provided with opportunities to develop social and academic capital, access support, and establish a foundation for continued and future success--regardless of past or current obstacles.
