Our major emphasis was Colorado cutthroat trout restoration through a variety of means including habitat restoration, invasive species removal, surveying through backpack electroshocking, fish transportation. Boat electrofished and gillnetted on reservoirs. Analyzed fish otoliths in the lab. Collected samples for mercury analysis. Navigated in the backcountry and 4WD terrain. Work entailed backpack electrofishing Bright Angel Creek with the purpose of surveying fish and removing nonnative trout to restore the natural stream assemblage. Weir maintenance and monitoring. PIT tagging fish. Maintenance and repair of equipment. Worked strenuous 8 day trips in the Grand Canyon leading 8 to 10 technicians, often in inclement weather. Wrote a NPS natural resource report: Glacier Bay National Park Selected Fish Harvest (publication pending) and presented my findings. Created an ethical fishing outreach pamphlet. Taught a kid’s fishing day. Conducted a variety of solo fieldwork including water quality sampling in brown bear country. Managed database of charter fishing.

      Worked as an integral member of the water science team to improve water management in WA in order to aid the conservation of endangered and threatened fish species. Monitored stream flow, chemical and physical parameters. Conducted aquatic insect collections, electrofishing surveys, physical habitat simulations for stream modeling, night snorkel surveys for endangered bull trout, and data management.

      I worked for the Aquatic Inventory Program whose goal is to assess aquatic habitats, conduct fish surveys, and monitor restoration projects through habitat surveys, electrofishing, and snorkeling to identify and enumerate fish. I also contacted landowners to request permission to access our survey sites and I effectively communicated with the public.
