---- Electron Sources for Microscopy --My PhD has covered many topics, including theory, experimental and simulation work. I arranged my own topics and direction, supervising bachelors and masters students for projects of my own design. Details• Developed the analytical theory and numerically calculated brightness of a combined thermal, field, photo electron source.• Built experimental set up to focus and image laser on sharp tip (field emitter) in ultra-high vacuum.• Performed ray tracing of electron sources to find (approximate) stochastic Coulomb interactions.• N-Body/Monte Carlo ray tracing of electron sources to determine Coulomb interactions(using GPT, C/C++, and Matlab for data analysis).• Designed (Concept and RF electronics) and tested miniature MEMs GHz electron blanker/chopper, for ultra-fast electron microscopy.• Used SEM and FIB to image/ modify MEMs GHz blanker.• Ray tracing and analytical equations to determine aberrations of GHz blanker.• Reviewed electron guns for ultra-fast electron microscopy.PublicationsImproving the energy spread and brightness of thermal-field (Schottky) emitters with PHAST- PHoto Assisted Schottky Tip.
