This prestigious recognition was a result of my exceptional performance in representing the United Kingdom in the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) committee.The focus of our committee was the Effects of Genetically Modified (GM) Crops, a highly debated and complex topic. As the representative of the UK, I faced the challenge of navigating a neutral policy stance. The UK's position acknowledged the consumption of products involving GM crops or processed GM foods, while refraining from cultivating such crops within the country.Despite the nuanced position I held, I was determined to make significant contributions to the discussions and resolutions. Throughout the Model United Nations event, I actively engaged with fellow delegates, shared valuable insights, and collaborated on policy recommendations. My efforts contributed to the development of comprehensive and well-thought-out resolutions, addressing the various concerns surrounding genetically modified crops.Receiving the High Commendation award highlights my ability to navigate a challenging position and make a substantial impact. This accomplishment reflects my commitment to diplomacy, critical thinking, and effective problem-solving.
