National patient safety agency
Apr 2008 - Mar 2012Information analystI worked as a healthcare information analyst at the National Patient Safety Agency. This role ensures that I am constantly applying methods in biostatistics and applied epidemiology to the largest longituidinal dataset of medical errors in the world so that useful clinical outputs can be produced. Specifically, my role is to provide data extracts and analysis from the National Reporting and Learning on specific clinical and patient safety topics, e.g. I produce bi-annual patient safety profiles on all NHS institutions in England and Wales. These profiles provide the public with a snapshot of patient safety indicators (reporting rate, type of incident and harm) within their local NHS trust and shows how well it compares with its peers. I have also been actively working with clinicians since 2008 by participating in research within the patient safety area and publishing any learning gained from it, e.g. I have worked with clinicians to identify and delineate the causes of iatrogenic harm associated with equipment used during laparoscopic cholecystectomy procedure in hospitals. All these roles are directly relevant to improving the safety and therefore health of patients in the long run. Show less

Dec 2013 - Jun 2014Business intelligence analystAt the commissioning support unit, my role was to work within the Mental Health area and produce activity/spending reports on trust performance. I also validated provider data and worked with the relevant teams when there were issues relating to data quality and completeness. I was also involved in producing monthly integrated Mental Health and community service reports for five CCGs in North and East London. These reports showed the monthly and year to date activity including variance from any planned activity, as well as cluster analysis. I also responded to ad-hoc requests from commissioners, for e.g. I analysed walk-in-centre activity for Barnet CCG and CDAT (complex depression, anxiety and trauma) activity performance over different providers for Islington CCG. I have also helped with Acute PBR reporting when required. I also worked with and developed relationships with internal teams (e.g. contracts, finance) and external teams in provider and CCGs organisations. Show less
