The project involved working closely with the senior designer in testing new conceptual designs as well as formalising and validating the manufacturing process. The project concluded with the product launch at the end of my placement.Third year: Grade A in XML, Engineering Law, E-Manuf, Group Design project. Second year: Grade A in Proj. Jul 2003 - Sept 2005

Overview: I was employed in the Design Department, reporting directly to the Design Director. I was a designer and project manager in charge of four development projects.Key Achievements:Lead designer and project manager to design Mk III humidification chamber project. The Mk III chamber is a dual float water bath with auto-fill mechanism.Developed embedded heated wire, which is a new patentable concept for delivery of humidified gas to medical patients. Completed the final pre-production evaluation before production trials.Co-inventor in two granted patent applications – for the Mk II humidification chamber and the embedded heated wire breathing system. Also looked into developing innovative design solution for new range of water draining and scavenging systems for breathing tubes. Proceeded to develop towards a R&D feasibility stage.Other responsibilities:Maintained the documentation and procedures as per ISO 9001 and Medical Devices Directive.Hospital visits with Marketing Managers for user feedback trials and market research.Co-ordination and overseeing pre-production and production trials at the manufacturing sites in Lithuania, Guernsey & Wokingham. Show less Overview:As a part of the Thick-Sandwich Course I was placed at Intersurgical UK Ltd for a one-year placement (work training). Key Achievements:Worked in conjunction with a senior designer to develop the new range of heated wire breathing systems, these systems are used in hospitals for invasive ventilation. Carried out product validation testing before transferring the product to production and completed the risk analysis and ISO 9001 documentation required for launching the product.Evaluated performance of development prototypes of CPAP valves and contributed towards design modifications to achieve the necessary functional performance of the valves.Used plastic flow simulation package to improve the component design in conjunction with designers. Design Engineer

Overview: I am part of the Mechanical engineering stream at Farnboruogh, UK. During my time at Nokia, I have worked on two phone programs designing the Keymat on C5 and Real leather Battery cover on Nokia Oro (Premium variant of Nokia C7)Key Achievements:Real leather removable battery cover design (slide) & Integration is being done for the first time in Nokia. The Battery cover has been developed currently with several suppliers not previously used for Mass production ( Bridge of Weir /Scotland ,Trexta/Turkey, CN Innovation /China)Successfully fine tuned the Battery cover design for Mass production and sales start.Developed the Eve Keymat mechanics and completed detail design in a very short period between CS1 (Concept Stage ) and PD0(Tooling) in time for FR1Achieved the target BOM cost for Keymat and the required usability trials results on first trials. This part was again dual soured; Worked with international suppliers and completed assembly trials visits. Initially few months, was part of In-markets mechanical engineering team dealing with cost reductions and product lifecycle related activities. Show less
