  Founded The Unsafe Swallow Project

  The Unsafe Swallow Project was founded in 2020 with funding from the QNI and Burdette Trust. The project aims to provide accessible resources to reduce the risks of dysphagia and aspiration. Aspiration pneumonia and pneumonia is one of the leading causes of death in people with learning disabilities. Many of these deaths are avoidable. The project sums to provide accessible training and resources to care workers, family members and adults with learning disabilities to improve their knowledge and skills in identifying swallowing difficulties, reducing the risks, and signposting to help and professional support and advice.
