    • Dominoes Pizza

      Sept 2018 - Nov 2018
      In-store team member

In my short time while working with Dominoes I was trained in GDPR compliance, money handling, and was primarily responsible for putting through sales both in person and using the phone lines. As part of my training I attended workshops on customer satisfaction and relations management. This role was undertaken while still in my 6th year of secondary school.

    • Denny's

      Nov 2018 - Feb 2019
      Front of House Team Member

Keen to work the hospitality industry I made the move from Dominoes to Denny’s Diner when the opportunity arose. The role was described primarily as front of house. I was responsible for taking orders from customers, coordinating the the food pass, maintaining a compliant standard of hygiene as well as liaising with customers to a high standard. This short experience taught me to enjoy working with the general public in a fast paced and often challenging working environment. My work ethic and commitment also led to my line manager putting my forward for a supervisory role towards the end of my time with the company. Show less

    • PENDULUM BAR & GRILL LIMITED

      Feb 2019 - Mar 2020
      Front of house team member

After gaining the required industry experience, I accepted an offer to join Pendulum Bar and Grill, a family owned restaurant in the heart of Paisley. My time at Pendulum gave me the opportunity to sharpen and develop my level of customer service independently within the restaurant trade to an even greater extent as well an ability to work in a closely-knit team. My key responsibilities included face-to-face customer-based tasks in the form of taking multiple, often complex orders from a set section of tables or indeed as is often the case an entire function room. My employment with Pendulum was cut short due to the covid-19 pandemic which essentially froze the hospitality industry. I then was put on the Furlough scheme and remained on the scheme through my university exams until I was able to find work. Show less

    • Sitel UK & Ireland

      May 2020 - Jun 2020
      Call Handler

Following my departure from the hospitality industry, I was keen to find employment in order to withdraw from the governments Furlough scheme. I managed to source a temporary (three month) post with Sitel Group. The post was initially advertised as customer service/care related, allowing me to work from home via my laptop which was perfect given the lockdown at the time. I then embarked on a thorough syllabus of general training which covered topics ranging from GDPR and data protection to the procedures and safeguarding in place in the event of making a call and having either a child or an individual with complex needs answer the phone. Once the NHS track and trace programme went live, I took on the role of a Tier 3 call handler. The role essentially required me to call those who had come into contact with a positive covid case and ask them a series of questions that would be entered into the NHS system. Over the course of the month I spent working on the programme there were significant teething problems and I therefore left when a further opportunity arose to work in Morrison’s. What I take away from this experience is a further development of professionalism in regard to working and a meticulous attention to both detail and extensive, often complex procedure. Show less

    • Morrisons

      Jul 2020 - Nov 2021
      Retail Customer Assistant

In my previous employment at Morrison’s Falside Road branch, I was part of the Deli Team. My role consisted of the preparation, labelling and the sale of meats, cheeses and other Deli items. With the amalgamation of several departments, within my role I was also required to prepare, cook and package pastries and pies as part of the pie shop section of Market Street. Each item is required to be individually probed to ensure it is of a suitable temperature, and all temperatures and cook times have to be recorded in legal logbooks. There are a multitude of checks that must legally be completed within the department to ensure we are operating within the law. This is particularly prevalent in the rotisserie which also falls under the responsibility of deli employees. The proper control of raw meat within the department is paramount to ensure the safety of customers. I prepare raw meat in a separate ‘raw room’ whilst wearing the required PPE and sanitising the areas in which the raw meat has come into contact with. In the same fashion as the pies cooked meat must all be probed to ensure it is safe to eat before either being packaged up or placed under the lights of the hot closet. The required legal checks on food, cleanliness of the department and the maintenance of equipment is taken very seriously, and I spend a great deal of my time noting everything I do in the provided logbooks. My time in the role of a Morrison’s Deli worker has further shown me the realities of the attention to detail required when providing both a service in the form of serving at the counter and a product to the general public. Whilst a great deal of teamwork is required to meet department targets, there is a large emphasis on personal responsibility and the sense the worker may well be just as liable as the employer in cases of negligence. I have managed to gain a lot working in the department and have further emboldened and developed numerous transferrable skills. Show less

    • Caffe Royale Paisley

      Nov 2021 - Jul 2023
      Front of house Associate

In November 2021 I took up the opportunity to work back in the hospitality industry following the high demand of experienced staff required post Covid. I feel the transferable skills obtained through service are vital in my professional development. My new role allowed me to work later in the evenings which suited my studies better and my personal nature of going above and beyond with clients is well received. I was able to gain new skills within the restaurant trade and I was able to use my knowledge of food, wine, and in depth allergen training to further my skills working with members of the public.
