InciSioN is an international non-profit organization, consisting of students, trainees and early career physicians from all over the world who have come together to discuss about, educate on, advocate for, and perform research in Global Surgery. InciSioN GND is the largest of the 46 national working groups. At the SGU student chapter of InciSioN we have had events such as disaster triage workshops, fundraisers for local surgeries, wound care clinics, and also Project HOPE ($400,000 worth of medical supplies shipped to Grenada General Hospital). Two past board members are currently serving as directors on the international board. As president for the Fall 2020 term, my aim is to highlight the importance of health equity, that is, equal access to healthcare opportunities for everyone. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has pushed organizations such as InciSioN to come up with inventive ideas to make an impact. I look forward to doing the same with my role and inspiring a young generation of global surgeons. Show less

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our healthcare system, economy, and day-to-day lives are evident all around us. As a result, there has been significant disruption to routine services, including children cancer services. At present, there is little data available to understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on global children cancer services and the subsequent impact on outcomes for children with cancer. To have a better understanding of this issue, we are launching an international, multi-centre study to assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on paediatric cancer services and their outcomes globally. The study includes representations from a number of international collaborative networks such as The International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP), the International Society of Paediatric Surgical Oncology (IPSO), Global Initiative for Children’s Surgery (GICS) and the Oxford Global Paediatric Cancer Network. The day-to-day operational element of the study will be facilitated by the Global Children NCDs group based at the University of Oxford. As the leader for the graphics designing team for the study, my aim is to promote this study and visually engage potential collaborators around the world to get involved in this opportunity.
