      Strengthening Climate Resilience in the Kafue Basin (SCRIKA) project is funded by the African Development Bank through the Ministry of National Planning aimed at improving the livelihood of people affected by the effects of climate change and strengthening their adaptive capacity to the effects of climate change. Mumbwa District is part of the areas under implementation. The project includes the hard and soft adaptation where the hard adaptation are structural projects in nature such as Installation of Solar Powered Borehole and the soft adaptation includes projects such as livestock, plantations and soft cash transfer. These programs are aimed at providing access to clean drinking water for both human beings and their animals ,the boreholes also promote cultivation of crops all year round to encourage animal husbandry ,Goat /Sheep houses and piggeries have been constructed including chicken runs.In Mumbwa District, the project commenced mid of 2018 and over 61 communities benefited so far with 40 solar powered boreholes installed ,four chicken runs and three piggeries and twelve goat and sheep houses completed.
