  Process Monitoring and Analysis Engineering Intern (Aromatics)

  The base responsibility given to me as an intern at ExxonMobil is to manage the migration of existing process monitoring packages in Excel into a modern web-based data handling tool. On top of that, I also supported the engineers in any urgent side tasks to help maintain business results. Towards the end of my internship period and given the results that I have shown, my supervisor opened an opportunity for me to backfill an out-going engineer.During my time here, I learned various skills that I did not imagine gaining when I first started. I got to brush up my Excel skill, got my hands on some VBA coding, created a regression model using JMP, communicating and presenting ideas to senior technical folks in Singapore, Netherlands and the USA as well as working close with my mentor in improving engineers' current work processes.   Responsible for unit health, energy and production losses monitoring for Baton Rouge Chemical Plant Aromatics Unit (Benzene/Toluene Extraction) and Singapore Chemical Plant Aromatics Unit (Paraxylene Extractions). Currently leading the effort on revamping, developing and standardizing energy monitoring variables for Aromatics plants globally.
