      Awarded Contracts to develop the Engineering in Extreme Environments Module for the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic years. The development work focused on developing the practical engineering aspects of the module, primarily concerning the Corrosion Laboratory and the Extreme Temperature Demonstrator. Corrosion Laboratory• Designed and produced new apparatus to record corrosion using Fusion 360 and 3D printing. Also, to record high-resolution images on a Raspberry Pi using Raspberry Pi’s high-quality cameras that are programmed to produce time-lapse images in Python and Linux • Developed the method and code for image data analytics to improve the quality of the data produced in the laboratory using MATLAB and Python.• Implemented a lighting system of the specimens to enable better image analysis data for the corrosion lab apparatus. • Set up a network, so images can be stored on a server /cloud and collected by students.• Developed the apparatus to enable sensor systems to be used on different specimens, using both high humidity and temperature to create an extreme environment alongside acid to accelerate the corrosion process. • Planned the Extreme Chemistry lab sessions to enable more efficiency which meant that time can be spent in smaller groups on the Extreme Temperature Demonstrator. Extreme Temperature Demonstrator Developed a practical workshop to demonstrate how extreme temperatures affect the properties of metals. Show less
