      Sergeant

During my time in the Army Corps of Engineers, I attained the rank of Sergeant. I always loved a challenge which is why my training in the Army varies from heavy equipment operation to practical nurse to risk management and to logistical support, to mention just a few. In the Army I was in charge of groups of soldiers from squad size to platoons size. I grew to enjoy being a leader. Seeing a job well done by competent soldiers that I helped train and mentor became one of the most fulfilling things I have ever done. During my deployment from 2003-2005 my experience and the capability of my fellow soldiers allowed my unit to be the first unit of its type to successfully complete its mission in a combat environment since the Korean War.• Foreman for rock quarry and aggregate manufacturing facility which required supervision of 12 to 40 individuals on the job site.• Helped design training programs resulted in a reduction accidents or injuries to equipment users.• Supervised entire process of earth mining from initial setup of both quarry and processing plant to the production of material as per customer requests.• Managed blast sites for creation of raw material using various types of detonators and explosives. At Southwest Research I lead teams of my peers in the construction of various antenna systems for customers from all around the world. I’ve also been the lead technician in the development and a RF system, which has allowed us to corner that portion of the market. I also was part of a ‘tiger team’ that spearheaded the modernization of a thirty-year-old legacy system and integrated that update into the refurbishing program that was already underway in such a way that there were no added manpower costs. • Supervise several multi-million dollar projects across different systems with teams of up to six employees each.• Facilitate and coordinate the development and testing of prototype systems.• Recognize for outstanding partnership with a colleague in the discovery of a defect in a supplier’s product which led to redesign of the product that resulted in saving the customer time and money.• Build, troubleshoot, repair, and renovate radio and satellite communication antennas and associated support equipment.• Conduct functionality and factory acceptance testing of various systems.• Create technical documents including test procedures and work instructions.
